Human Resources and Skills Development Canada is a federal department that includes the federal Labour Program and offers information about employment standards for federally regulated workplaces. Only about 10 percent of all Canadian businesses are federally regulated. See the Employment Standards Branch of BC in this guide for provincially regulated workplaces.

Website note: Click on "Employment Standards Publications" for resources on specific topics, like unjust dismissal. The easiest way to get a payment claim Kit is to go directly to: www.hrsdc.gc.ca/eng/lp/lo/opd-ipg/opd/700-10a1.shtml#appa_1. Other Operations Program Directives related to Labour Standards are available at: http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/eng/labour/opd/standards.shtml.
