Public Libraries

Public libraries are located in over 243 communities throughout BC. Most have public access computer terminals and free access to QP LegalEze, a searchable database of BC legislation, current Bills and Hansard debates. Larger libraries have legal reference books and provincial statutes and regulations. Library staff can help you find legal information in their library or online. Under the old Divorce Act, the schedule of a parent's time with their children under an order or agreement, replaced with "parenting time" and "contact" in the new Divorce Act. Access usually referred to the schedule of the parent with the least amount of time with the child. See "contact," "custody" and "parenting time."
