Clicklaw Wikibooks Copyright Guide

From Clicklaw Wikibooks

This is a help page for contributors or users.

One of the most important aspects of Clicklaw Wikibooks is that it encourages Creative Commons copyright licences, which are designed to encourage sharing and reuse of information. Not all titles are subject to Creative Commons, but most are, and indicate so at the bottom of their pages.

Creative Commons copyright licences give creators a simple, standardized way to grant copyright permissions to their creative work. Every Creative Commons licence helps creators retain copyright while allowing others to copy, distribute, and make some uses of their work — at least non-commercially.

Clicklaw Wikibooks indicate at the bottom of their pages the Creative Commons licence for that specific work.

Information for contributors

All content provided by volunteer editors related to titles that are subject to Creative Commons, including written material, illustrations, and any other intellectual property, will be licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.5 Canada License (CC BY-NC-SA 2.5 CA).

This license permits others to remix, adapt, and build upon the original work non-commercially, as long as they credit the contributors and license their new creations under identical terms.

By continuing your participation in this project, you agree to these licensing terms. Your work will not be controlled under standard copyright restrictions, and will instead contribute to a broader community effort in accordance with the principles of the Creative Commons.

If you have any questions or require further clarification regarding this license or your participation, please do not hesitate to contact wikisupport@clicklaw.bc.ca.

Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike

The Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.5 Canada Licence (CC BY-NC-SA 2.5 CA) lets others reuse, remix, and build upon the work non-commercially, as long as they credit the copyright holder and license their new creations under the identical terms. View the licence details.

If you want to reuse information licensed under CC BY-NC-SA 2.5 CA:

  • Attribution: To redistribute text on Clicklaw Wikibooks in any form, you must provide credit to the copyright holder.
  • Non-Commercial: You may not use the work for commercial purposes.
  • ShareAlike: If you make modifications or additions to a page you reuse, you must license them under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.5 Canada Licence or later.
  • Indicate changes: If you make modifications or additions, you must indicate in a reasonable fashion that the original work has been modified.
  • Licensing notice: Each copy or modified version that you distribute must include a licensing notice stating that the work is released under CC BY-NC-SA 2.5 CA and either (a) a hyperlink or URL to the text of the licence or (b) a copy of the licence. For this purpose, a suitable URL is: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/2.5/ca/.
