M. Kathleen Kinch is a subject editor for JP Boyd on Family Law, and is jointly responsible for the pages on Spousal Support. Kat graduated from University of British Columbia's Faculty of Law, and clerked with the BC Supreme Court before being called to the BC Bar in 2006. She practises family law, health law and advises on professional regulation at Harper Grey LLP in Vancouver.
She serves on the board of directors for the UBC Law Alumni Association, is co-founder of the Junior Family Lawyers Discussion Group, was a litigation volunteer for Downtown Eastside Sex Workers United Against Violence (SWUAV) v. Attorney General (Canada) (BC Supreme Court and Court of Appeal) and in the intervention of SWUAV, PACE and Pivot Legal Society in Bedford v. Canada (Ontario Court of Appeal). In 2004 Kat was Recognized as one of Canada's "Best and Brightest" university scholars by Maclean's Magazine, and was named the best all-round graduating student at UBC Law. She was designated a Wesbrook Scholar by UBC in 2004. |
