For provincially regulated employees, the ''ESA'' sets the minimum standards for how an employer can act during the course of employment. The ''ESA'' addresses some of the most basic employee entitlements, such as wages, vacation pay, holiday pay, overtime, pregnancy and other  leaves, and termination standards.  For federally regulated employees, the Canada Labour Code sets these minimum standards.
